PVHS holds career fairPVT
Pahrump Valley High School, in conjunction with Great Basin College, sponsored a College and Career Fair Wednesday, Dec. 5 at PVHS from 9 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. Over 1800 students from Nye County schools attended. The focus of the fair was on educational and training opportunities that students can pursue beyond high school to prepare them for 21st century careers. Representatives from Nevada colleges, technical schools, the military and area businesses set up booths and spoke with students about opportunities. There were 40 different vendors present for the event. PVHS culinary students prepared and served breakfast and lunch to vendors. Keith Froehling inspired juniors and seniors throughout the day in the PVHS auditorium. He spoke to the students about how to successfully achieve goals, and to get their needs, wants and desires met. Parents and students came back to the PVHS auditorium at 4 p.m. for a financial aid workshop. Froehling presented important ideas about goal setting and achievement. A GBC financial aid officer assisted the attendees in understanding the financial aid process and explained that education and training beyond high school is both possible and worth the effort. |
