A reliable source leaked the Christmas requests of local officials while sitting on Santa's lap at the Bob Ruud Community Center earlier this month. AL BALLOQUI, chairman of PAVED: Smiling kids sliding down a giant water slide on mats at the new theme park on the fairgrounds property, next to a western fort where cowboys and Indians do battle. ANDY ALBERTI: A free trip to a trade show in Anaheim, Calif. DAVE RICHARDS, Pahrump town manager: A book with the proper rules of bowling etiquette and a pair of boxing gloves. HARLEY KULKIN, local TV personality: A soap box at Petrack Park he can stand on and make speeches to whoever passes by. BILL CLINTON, former president: A stop at Sheri's Ranch while campaigning for his wife Hillary in Pahrump. PETER LIAKOPOULOS, Nye County commissioner: A good lawyer with sharp pencils to cross out names of people ineligible to sign his recall petition. SAM MERLINO, Nye County clerk: A couple of technicians from Sequoia Voting Systems standing by to help run the voting machines on election night. HEIDI FLEISS, former Hollywood madam: Giant bottles of Viagra for the male prostitutes at her new brothel for women. JOHN MCDONALD, Pahrump town board vice-chairman: A calculator to figure out all those fees for WillDan Engineering. BUTCH BORASKY, Nye County commissioner: A fancy stereo system for the new Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a round-trip, first-class airline ticket to a conference in Washington, D.C. ED GOEDHART, Nevada Assemblyman, District 36: A cowboy hat to maintain that western image and some dog biscuits for his canine companion. ROB ROBERTS, Nye County school superintendent: More golden shovels for ground breaking ceremonies at some new schools. LAURAYNE MURRAY, Pahrump town board chairwoman: A brand new federal detention center with lots of well-paid guards. JONI EASTLEY, Nye County commissioner: A major solar energy company, or any company for that matter, locating at the Tonopah Airport. GARY HOLLIS, Nye County Commission chairman: A refurbished Calvada Eye building for county use, with a plaque on the wall containing the names of the present board of commissioners. Also, a desert tortoise sanctuary in his back yard, with a pool and rocks for the critters to play in. TOM HUSTED, Valley Electric Association chief executive officer: A warehouse full of generators to hand out to customers during the next extended power blackout. SAMSON YAO, Nye County public works director: A traffic light at Homestead Road and Highway 160. |
