ID theft probe nets 5

BEATTY--Identity theft took a hit with the Nye County Sheriff's Office arrest of several suspects allegedly involved in using forged documents to obtain false identities.

Gregorio Mendoza-Rivera, 26, Mayra Castillo-Gonzalez, 29, Juan Mendoza-Bentencort, 25, Jose Rivera-Mendoza, 29, and Salvador Rivera-Mendoza, 23, were all arrested and taken to the Beatty Substation.

The arrests were part of an ongoing identity theft investigation which gave basis for a search warrant.

Several forged documents were found inside the residences of the aforementioned suspects.

The charges they were booked on were not mentioned in the sheriff's office press release, but they are each being held on $10,000 bail.

Family to Family Calendar

The December class schedule for Family to Family Connection, 160 S. Emery, is as follows:

Dec. 21 -- Holiday safety, 11 a.m.

Dec. 24 and 25 -- Closed for the Holidays.

Dec. 28 -- Early Intervention Explore and Learn playgroup, 11 a.m.

The Back to Basics Parenting class is at 3 p.m. every Wednesday (parents with children birth to 5 years old).

Play group is at 1 p.m. every Thursday.

Resource Lending Library is open from 9- 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Kiwanis New Year's Eve

The Kiwanis Club of Pahrump will hold the 1st annual New Year's Eve party, 8-1 a.m., Dec. 31 at the Bob Ruud Community Center.

Dress is casual-dressy (no blue jeans or sweats).

Live music will be provided by Armando Pizzi Band starting at 9 p.m.

Soda, beer, water and wine will be offered for sale.

There will be a raffle and free door prize drawings.

Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at Shadow Mountain Construction, 2221 S. Winery Road, or by calling 513-8952 or 209-3752.
