BEATTY -- Beatty's boys basketball team had its problems in the Pahrump Valley Times Trojans Cage Classic last weekend.

But the Hornets found their long-absent offense here Wednesday night, when they defeated the Class 3-A Pahrump Valley Junior Varsity 79-64.

The Beatty girls carried over their strong play from the tournament, but the Trojans' JVs emerged with a 37-35 victory.

Alex Anderson had 21 points for the Trojan JV boys. Yaundee Otano had 15 points and Courtney Salmon 14 for the PV girls.

Beatty's boys, coached by Brian Hayes, are idle until Dec. 20, when they open Nevada Class A Central Division play at home against Spring Mountain. It's a varsity-only night, with action starting at 6.

Coach Aimee Senior's girls won't return to action until Jan. 4, when they are at home against Nye County and division rival Tonopah. It's part of a four-game girls and boys series, starting at 3 p.m.

On Jan. 5, the Hornet girls and boys play at home against county and division rival Round Mountain, starting at 1 p.m.

Beatty played a non-division doubleheader against Trona, Calif., Tuesday; the scores were not available at press time.
