New Year's may need reservations

Christmas isn't here yet, but if no plans have been made for a New Year's celebration, it might be time to think about making reservations.

The Pahrump Valley Times called most businesses in town to get a list of places offering either special menus or entertainment, or both.

Surprisingly enough, a lot of bars and lounges haven't even thought about New Year's, and some restaurants haven't decided on a menu as of yet.

The following is a list compiled in as much detail as is available, and an update should follow in next Wednesday's edition assuming the information is complete by then.

For dining out, the choices are:

Mountain Falls Grill Room is offering a number of selections on the menu. At the top of the list is Surf and Turf at $65, and at the bottom of the list, Chicken Marco Polo is $30. There are other choices in between. Each dinner comes with an appetizer, soup or salad, dessert and a complimentary bottle of wine. Dinner will be served from 5-9 p.m. and reservations should be made now. Call 537-6553, ext. 205.

Symphony's at the Pahrump Valley Winery has Surf and Turf as well. They are offering a five course wine dinner which includes a choice of five entrees, a choice of two appetizers, two choices of soup, a salad and dessert. There is a complimentary glass of champagne. Only two seatings are available, one at 5 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. Prices range from $59.95 to 49.95, plus tip and gratuity. Call 727-6900 for reservations.

The Short Branch Saloon in Crystal is offering Prime Rib, camp beans, salad and garlic bread for $10.00 and reservations are mandatory. Call 775-372-1717.

Stockman's Steakhouse at the Nugget has Surf and Turf on the regular menu and this is one of the locations where the menu hasn't been set. They are going to have someone playing in the piano bar and the restaurant bar is open. Call 751-6500.

Saddle West is having a dessert bar from 5-9 p.m., a truck drawing and a champagne toast. Call 727-1111. The chef will update the newspaper on the New Year's buffet.

For entertainment, the choices are:

Our Bar/Charlie's Place is having live music with Mike Hickey and Parrothead. The music starts at 8 p.m. Call 751-5500.

The Eagle's Nest Lounge is having live music but who is playing isn't available. There will be free hors d'oeurves. Call 751-5290.

The Nugget stage bar is hosting Good Spirit Sounds from 8 until whenever. This might be a good choice for both dining and partying since travel isn't necessary. Call 751-6500.

Tumbleweed Tavern is having karaoke and prize drawings starting at 7:30 p.m. Call 727-1100.

Eve N Keel is hosting a pub crawl so drinkers don't have to drive. There will be a periodic balloon drop where ballons containing money can be popped for the prize. Call 537-1555.

Who's Dunes has Dean West and the Smokin' Guns starting at 9 p.m., and a champagne toast. Call 751-1310.

The Kiwanis will have their first New Year's party at the Bob Ruud Community Center starting at 9. The Armando Pizzi Band will play and there are free hors d'oeurves. They will sell beer, wine and sodas. Dress is casual dressy; no jeans and sweats. Call 513-8952.

K-7 Pizza and Lounge will host acoustic guitarist Ray Dog starting at 8 p.m. There will be party favors and a champagne toast. Call 727-9070.

Rusty's Lounge is having karaoke and a champagne toast. Call 727-9990.

Paddy's Pub will celebrate New Year's but no information is available. Call 727-6676.

The last chance to get "reservations needed" events published before Christmas is to have them in by Dec. 17.

Please remember to drink responsibly.
