Trojans lose to ShieldsPVT
LAS VEGAS -- Pahrump Valley's undefeated streak ended at 11 Monday, as homestanding Class 4-A Cheyenne triumphed 43-38 in a non-league girls' basketball game. The Desert Shields outscored the Trojans 27-20 in the second half, after trailing 18-16 at the half. Kristi Daffer paced the Trojans with 11 points and six rebounds, while Megan Meads added seven points and 14 rebounds. Ayoola Weaver, a 6-foot-3 senior who averaged eight points and three rebounds per game last season, led Cheyenne with 16 points. Raven Hicks, a transfer from Centennial, added six points. The Trojans complicated their own effort by shooting just 26 percent (14-for-54) from the field. They outrebounded the bigger Desert Shields 40-22. Pahrump Valley is now idle until Dec. 21, when the Trojans host Class A power Pahranagat Valley Alamo. The boxscore: Pahrump Valley (38) Orr 2-0-6, Kunzi 0-0-0, Taylor 0-0-0, B.
