OBITUARIES
Ralph Rosa Ralph Rosa, 82, passed away Dec. 3, 2007 at his home in Pahrump. He was born May 25, 1925 in Puerto Rico and was a resident of Pahrump for 25 years, having come from California. Ralph was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He was an electrical engineer. He had many friends in Pahrump. His greatest joy was bowling and he had enjoyed the sport for over 50 years. He loved his dogs Babe, Eden, Guy and Dude. He will be greatly missed and we will see him again in that big bowling alley in the sky. Pahrump Family Mortuary handled the arrangements. (12/03/07) ![]() Helen Simmons Helen Simmons, 76, passed away Nov. 26, 2007. She was born April 3, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Okla. and was a 12 year resident of Pahrump. Her husband Victor Simmons of Pahrump; sons Ron Simmons of Yelm, Wash. and Jeff Simmons of Pahrump; daughter Jeri Lynn Nelson of Graham, Wash.; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren survive her. Helen will be greatly missed by all. (11/26/07) Virgil "Pete" L. Pederson Virgil "Pete" L. Pederson, 86, passed away Dec. 5, 2007 at Evergreen Nursing Home in Pahrump. He was born Oct. 1, 1921 in Mason City, Iowa and was a resident of Pahrump, having come from Mason City, Iowa. Pederson was a librarian at the University Library and held memberships in the PTA, Friends of the Library, Pahrump Valley Museum, Pahrump Valley Rockhounds and the Pahrump Arts Council. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and he attended the University of Iowa and Columbia University of New York City. His wife Darlene Pederson of Pahrump; son David Pederson of Pahrump; daughters Martha Pederson of Chicago, Ill. and Laura Pederson of St. Paul, Minn. and two grandchildren survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Services were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 11 at the Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel in Mason City, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Museum of the American Indian in his memory. (12/05/07) ![]() Carol Dean Wade Carol Dean Wade, 67, passed away Dec. 5, 2007. She was born Jan. 27, 1940 in Chandler, Ariz. and was a 12 year resident of Pahrump. She was a homemaker and a member of Choice Hills Baptist Church. Her husband Bill Wade of Pahrump; children Tony Kurpiel, Dean Wade, Debbie Yelvington and Denise (Brad) Yager; mother Norma Clevenger; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive her. She was preceded in death by her brother Dale Hardwick. Services will be at 11 a.m., Dec. 11 at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas. Pastor Carl England Jr. will officiate. (12/05/07) ![]() Milton "Milt" L. Sablich Milton L. Sablich, 70, passed away Dec. 6, 2007 at his home in Pahrump after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Known to his family and friends as "Milt," he was born Oct. 28, 1937 in Iron River, Mich. the son of George and Bernice (Kass) Sablich. He grew up in Iron River and attended the local schools, and spent part of his youth in the Racine, Wis. area visiting his older sister and grandparents. In 1954, Milt joined the U.S. Marine Corp and served in the Far East with the Marine Air Group. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California and at Fallon before being honorably discharged in 1957. He returned to Michigan for a short time before moving to Nevada and settling in Las Vegas. He and the former Yvonne Youst were married in 1970 in Las Vegas, where they made their home. Milt joined the Clark County Fire Department and achieved the rank of chief mechanic. He retired in 1993. A man of many talents, he built several homes and helped others with various projects. Milt's interests were varied and included gardening, feeding the birds and quail, star-gazing and he had a great love of animals. His wife Yvonne of Pahrump; sisters Betty Hird of Racine, Wis., Carol Sablich of Covington, Mich. and Donna (Roger) Culver of Somers, Wis.; brother George (Judi) Sablich of Theodore, Ala. and many cousins, nieces and nephews survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Bernice, and older brothers Robert and Jack. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11 in Logandale Cemetery, Logandale, Nev., under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary, 702-398-3600. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice. (12/06/07) Al S. Buquet Al S. Buquet, 66, passed away Dec. 7, 2007. He was born Sept. 11, 1941 in Lutcher, La. and was a resident of Amargosa Valley for 18 years. He was an entertainment manager. His daughter Lorraine (Alan) Belt of Las Vegas; granddaughters Kate and Courtney of Las Vegas and grandson Calvin of Las Vegas, survive him. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Dec. 14 at the downtown Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas, 1325 N. Main Street. (12/07/07) James L. "Jim" Collins James L. (Jim) Collins, 72, passed away in Pahrump Dec. 2, 2007. He was born in Winthrop, Mass., and came to Pahrump in 1992 from California after retiring from a 35-year career with Boeing that consisted of early rocket launches to the space shuttle. He was an avid golfer, bowler and was in dart leagues and pool leagues for many years. He has been a member of the Moose and Moose Legion for over 30 years. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy (Mike) Dillwith of Las Vegas, Patty (Rusty) McCammon of Reno, and Lora Collins of Ferndale, Calif.; four grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and his soul mate Jill Murphy. Jim had a lot of good friends in Pahrump and he was a good friend to all and a good and loving father. He will be sorely missed. Per his request, no services will be held. (12/02/07) |
