Sheriff's Report

The following information was provided by the Nye County Sheriff's Office. All crimes are alleged and all defendants are presumed innocent:

At Pahrump:

John Smith, 34, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Nov. 28 on a domestic violence charge. Bail was set at $3,000.

John Mullins, 40, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Nov. 28 on a Pahrump Justice Court warrant for failure to appear. Bail was set at $5,000.

Keith Baker, 48, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Nov. 28 charged with a New Mexico fugitive from justice warrant. Bail was set at $5,000.

Thomas Hernandez, 36, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Nov. 29 on three counts of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to violate the Uniforms Controlled Substance Act, under the influence of a controlled substance and a probation and parole violation. Bail for the new charges was set at $16,896 and no bail was set for the probation and parole violation.

Lenette Lopez, 25, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Nov. 29 on charges of possession of meth, under the influence of a controlled substance, conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substance Act and a probation and parole violation. Bail for the new charges was set at $20,000 and no bail was set on the probation and parole violation. She was released on her own recognizance per Judge Brisebill after a court date was set.

Eric Witz, 30, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Nov. 29 on charges of obstructing a peace officer, driving on a revoked license, no proof of insurance, expired plates and no driver's license in possession. Bail was set at $2,050 for these charges. He was also arrested on a Colorado warrant and the bail for that charge was $8,000.

Nicole Maxwell, 33, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Nov. 29 on a Las Vegas warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle. Bail was set at $3,000.

Delphino Zuniga-Vargas, 50, of Pahrump, was released from Pahrump jail Nov. 30 on his own recognizance to the custody of Immigration Naturalization Service.

Manuel Naranjo, 21, of Las Vegas, was booked into Pahrump jail Nov. 30 on two Pahrump Justice Court warrants of arrest. Bail was set at $50,000.

James Reed, 48, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Nov. 30 on a Pahrump Justice Court warrant for failure to appear. Bail was set at $10,000.

Jonnie Stetinger, 26, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Dec. 2 on charges of burglary, petit larceny, trespassing and using the ID of another. Bail was set at $11,254.

Bryan Rowe, 36, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Dec. 2 charged with a second charge of DUI-alcohol with an accident, failure to maintain travel lane and child neglect. Bail was set at $6,808.

William Farrell, 46, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Dec. 4 charged with bond revocation. Bail was set at $10,000 and he was released after bail posted and a court date was set.

Anthony Tavaglione, 19, of Pahrump, was booked into Pahrump jail Dec. 4 charged with DUI-alcohol, suspended driver's license, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and broken windshield. Bail was set at $3,280 and he was released on his own recognizance per Sgt. Thomassian after a court date was set and an agreement to appear signed.

At Beatty

Nicole Camille Maxwell was booked into Beatty jail Nov. 29 on an outside warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle. Bail was set at $3,000.

Holiday trash collections

Pahrump Valley Disposal will be picking up refuse one day late after all holidays this season.

For Christmas and New Year's, collection will be one day late. If your trash day is Tuesday (Christmas or New Year's), then refuse will be picked up Wednesday, and all collections will run one day late from that point.

Christmas baskets

The Salvation Army is now accepting applications for the Christmas food baskets and Christmas toys.

Christmas application deadline is Dec. 15.

Pick up applications 10-3 p.m., Monday-Friday, at the Salvation Army Social Services Office, 240 S. Dahlia St. (next to the Thrift Store).

Breakfast with Santa

Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church will sponsor a pancake and sausage breakfast with Santa, 10-1 p.m., Dec. 16, 781 E. Gamebird Road.

Come and meet Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Donations are $3 for adults and $1 for kids under 12.

Farmer's market

There is a farmer's market 8:30 a.m.-noon on Friday and Saturday, 5611 S. Homestead Road.

Vegetables and gifts are available from many local growers and artists.

Christmas food donations

Home Health Services of Nevada is accepting food donations for the seniors in need of assistance because of illness, infirmity or inadequate income.

The food will provide Christmas baskets so no one will go without for the holidays.

Donations may be dropped off, 8-4:30 p.m. at 1731 S. Hwy. 160 (next to Country Roads Recreation).

Freecycle to recycle

The Internet group, pahrumpfreecycle.org is part of a national organization of message boards where members post those things that might be used by someone else rather than throw them away.

The group is locally owned, and new members are always welcome.

Toys for Tots

The Marine Corps League, Pahrump Detachment 1199 partners with the Marine Corps Reserve to support Toys for Tots.

Toys for Tots will collect new, unwrapped toys from donation boxes at our local businesses to distribute to children in Nye County.

Collection boxes will be located in nearly 40 locations including Ace Hardware, Wal-Mart, Albertson's, Smith's, CVS Pharmacy, Desert Valley Regional Medical Center, Willow Creek Golf Course and Walgreens. The boxes will stay in place through Dec. 22.

Socks for tots

The Cinderella Girls are collecting new pairs of socks for tots, teens and adults for the holidays.

Deadline will be Dec. 15.

Socks will be distributed to the children in the hospital during the holidays and socks for adults will be given to the two local nursing homes.

A drop box is located at Skate Zone.

Wal-Mart Wall of Heros

If you have a picture of someone who has served or is serving in the military, and would like a picture displayed on the south wall, bring an 8 x 10 photo with the first and last name, branch of service, dates of service, and phone number. Add $2 for the frame and drop all the information at the customer service desk.

This is a stand alone project not affiliated with any other project or organization. All photos taken to Wal-Mart will stay at Wal-Mart. If you have any questions, call Denise Choyce at 727-1939.

Christmas musical

The Shadow Mountain Christian Fellowship will have a children's Christmas musical at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 16 at the Rosemary Clarke Middle School, 4201 N. Blagg Road.

Christmas pies

The Cinderella Girls will be selling Marie Callender pies for Christmas.

Deadline to order is Dec. 19. Orders may be mailed to 4530 Tiger Road, Pahrump 89048.

Pies can be picked up 11-2 p.m. at the Pahrump Nugget in the parking lot.

Oasis Christmas party

The Oasis Writers' Guild will hold the Christmas party reading and potluck at 7 p.m., Dec. 20.

Write a Christmas story or poem to share, 500 words or less.

Quilt raffle Benefit

Veterans wives, Joan Crim, Mary Carroll, Barb Johnson and Sue Palumbo purchased supplies and made a quilt to be raffled off as a benefit for the Pahrump VA Clinic.

Only 1000 tickets are available. The cost is $5, and tickets may be purchased at Pappa Willie's Italian Eatery and HR Locksmith.

Hopefully all the tickets will be sold by Dec. 21 and the quilt can have a new home by the holidays.

Kiwanis New Year's Eve

The Kiwanis Club of Pahrump will hold the 1st annual New Year's Eve party, 8-1 a.m., Dec. 31 at the Bob Ruud Community Center.

Dress is casual-dressy (no blue jeans or sweats).

Live music will be provided by Armando Pizzi Band starting at 9 p.m.

Soda, beer, water and wine will be offered for sale.

There will be a raffle and free door prize drawings.

Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at Shadow Mountain Construction, 2221 S. Winery Road, or by calling 513-8952 or 209-3752.
