Gorman wins

Las Vegas Bishop Gorman defeated Reno McQueen 38-17 Saturday to win the Nevada Class 4-A football championship.

Gorman is in the Southwest Division of the Sunset Region, which will add Pahrump Valley as a member in the 2008-2009 school year.

Other state champions this season were Tonopah, Class A; Needles, Calif., 2-A, and Overton Moapa Valley, 3-A.

Tennis, anyone?

Cj Azaria wants to know if anyone in Pahrump is interested in forming a tennis organization.

"We want people of all ages, from toddlers to seniors to sign up, if they are interested in tennis," said Azaria. "There are only two courts that we know of in Pahrump (at Petrack Park), so if we show there is enough interest, more courts will be built."

Junior golf

Dan Shimakawa and Mark Worden shot a 34 to win a Pahrump Valley Junior Golf Association Christmas tournament last weekend at Lakeview Executive.

Ryan Hammar-Sam Tietjen had 38, Shyanne Dixon-Craig Moore 40, David Markwell-Shawn Dixon 40, and Anthony Worden-Luke Tietjen 42.

Winners received Christmas-oriented prizes.
