Edward "Ed" Eder

Edward "Ed" Eder, 52, of Pahrump, passed away Nov. 28, 2007.

He was born in Riverside, Calif., and was a resident of Pahrump for five years.

Ed was the general manager of Dream Homes and had helped over 200 families realize the dream of home ownership.

Ed served in the military during and after the Vietnam War and his service time was one of his proudest accomplishments.

His hobbies included fishing with his son, camping and golfing.

He leaves behind his son Eddie; daughter-in-law Amanda and grandson Kyle, all of Las Vegas; two sisters and one brother.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6 at the VFW, 4651 S. Homestead Road. (11/28/07)

Alan Thomas Strandberg

Alan Thomas Strandberg, 57, passed away Nov. 07, 2007 in Pahrump.

He was a transportation supervisor with the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport and served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years.

His wife Cheri (Alexander) Strandberg of Pahrump; daughter Jennifer Lindley of Virginia Beach, Va.; mother Mary (Whalen) Strandberg of Pahrump and three grandchildren survive him.

A celebration of his life gathering is yet to be determined.

John Albert Lamb

John Albert Lamb, 66, passed away Nov. 17, 2007 in Las Vegas.

He was born Sept. 4, 1939 in Bonham, Texas and was a long time resident of Pahrump.

His brothers Charles Lamb and Bill McKelva; children Tony, Terri, Missy and Kim; grandchildren Ashley, Candice, Amanda, Autumn, Madison, John Michael, Jeweliann and Chelsey; great-grandson Joseph; desert friends John and Mandy, Bill Peden, Jim and Marie, and Chuck survive him.

He was known and respected by many, and was truly loved and will be deeply missed. (11/17/07)

Marie Yaeckel

Marie Yaeckel, 75, passed to the other side on Nov. 26, 2007.

She was born Feb. 24, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pa., and was a resident of Pahrump for over 16 years, having come from Lancaster, Calif.

She worked as a senior production planner for Lockheed/Martin Corp. and retired in 1991.

Marie faithfully attended Water from the Rock Church, and shared her love of Jesus Christ with others. She loved to help people in need and had many friends. She was a member of the Nye County Sheriff's Auxiliary and enjoyed serving her community.

Her loving husband of 50 years, Bob Yaeckel; brothers John Switzer of Indianapolis, Ind. and Paul Switzer of Philadelphia, Pa. survive her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice or Water from the Rock Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Dec. 9 at Water from the Rock Church, 1370 E. Matthew Lane. (11/26/07)

Virgil J. Settlemire

Virgil J. Settlemire, 72, passed away Nov. 28, 2007 at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas.

He was born Nov. 14, 1935 in Wasco, Calif. and was a resident of Amargosa Valley for 36 years.

He was a retired driller and a veteran, having served in the Marines.

His mother Pearl Jane Jackson of Bakersfield, Calif.; sons Randal L. (Jennifer) Settlemire of Paso Robles, Calif. and Bryan L. Settlemire of Amargosa Valley; daughters Lynette G. (Joe) Settlemire of Beatty and Janet M. Trembley of Boulder, Mont; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive him.

He was preceded in death by Earlene Sue Settlemire.

Services were at 2 p.m., Dec. 1 at the Amargosa Valley Community Center and burial followed at the Amargosa Cemetery. (11/28/07)

Betty Hacker

Elizabeth Louise Bures-Hacker, an angel on earth was sent to heaven Dec. 1, 2007.

Her maiden name was Elizabeth Louise Bures, but her family and friends knew and loved her as Betty.

She was born Dec. 5, 1934 in Kansas to Ed and Marie Bures who along with 5 siblings, Eddie, Larry, Rosemarie, Geno, and Maryjane and son, Gerry, welcomed her into heaven.

My mom's smile, laughter and love of life were infectious. She was one of the most positive people on earth. Everyone who knew my mom loved her. In fact, many adopted her as their mom, and her heart was big enough to love and care for anyone who wanted or needed her.

She leaves behind a trail of family and friends that deeply mourn her loss. Her sister, who she dearly loved, Martha Pinon; the love of her life, for 53 years - Robert Lee Hacker (Bob); her three children and their spouses, Rob Hacker Jr., John Hacker (Nancy) and Tina VanderWal (Chuck); nine grandchildren, Crystal, Misty, Angela, Paul, Windy, Ty, David, Mandy and Holly and eight great-grandchildren, Miranda, Alexis, Hannah, Gracie, Lillyanna, Troy, Cheyanne and Lawrie survive her.

She took great care of Bob and her three children and their spouses. She also loved and wonderfully spoiled her nine grandchildren.

Dec. 5 would have been mom's 73rd birthday.

Happy Birthday, Mom - wish we could be there to celebrate it with you. Till we meet in heaven - we will so deeply miss you.

There will be a celebration of her life on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the Moose Lodge in Pahrump.

Michelle Marie Payton Montgomery

Michelle Marie Payton Montgomery, 41, passed away Nov. 30, 2007 in Pahrump.

She was born Sept. 22, 1966 in Columbus, Ohio and was a three-year resident of Pahrump, having come from Henderson.

Michelle was employed as a controller for Fisk Electric, and was of the Methodist faith.

She graduated from West Fall High School and went on to graduate from Ohio Dominican College. She held membership in the APHA, the SSPHC and horse clubs.

Her mother Carolyn Montgomery of Pahrump; husband Frank Payton of Pahrump; daughters Ashley and Kayla Payton of Pahrump; brother Brad Montgomery of Grove City, Ohio; grandmother Mary Deyo of Grove City, Ohio; sister-in-law Char Montgomery of Grove City, Ohio; father and mother-in-law Donna and Rodney Meek of Jeffersonville, Ohio and sister and brother-in-law Darlene and Greg Wright of Jeffersonville, Ohio survive her.

Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to noon and services, noon to 1 p.m., Dec. 6th at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

Robert C. Felton

Robert C. Felton, 69, passed away Nov. 26, 2007 in Pahrump.

He was born July 12, 1938 in Jeanette, Pa., and was a 13-year resident of Pahrump, having come from Reno.

Robert worked for the military and retired from the U.S. government in 1980. He was a veteran of the Air Force an served his country during the Vietnam War.

His wife Dana Nolder of Pahrump; brother Jack Felton of Boynton Beach, Fla.; sister Janis Fisher of Warner-Robbins, Ga.; son Bill Felton of Jefferson, Pa.; daughter Kelli Felton of Warner-Robbins, Ga.; step-sons Quinn and Trevor Nolder of Marshall, Mo. and step-son Weylin Trevor of Bend, Ore. survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Helon and William Felton.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Dec. 7 at the VFW in Pahrump.

Daniel Fagan

Daniel Fagan, 48, of Pahrump, passed away Nov. 22, 2007.

He was born Feb. 26, 1959 in Nome, Alaska and was a ten-year resident of Pahrump although he had lived in Nevada for the last 45 years.

Danny was a 1977 graduate of Rancho High School and a medic in his two-year service in the U.S. National Guard.

He had a variety of work experiences including a restaurant chef's assistant, carpenter, concrete worker, and nursery worker.

His brother James Fagan; sisters La Ree Sullivan and Regina Golden of Las Vegas, Renee Mercer of Healy, Alaska, Lainey Bordelon and Dianna Bordelon of Anchorage, Alaska and Andrea Bordelon of Sedona, Ariz. survive him.

He will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dianne Bordelon of Anchorage, Alaska and Larry Fagan of North Las Vegas.

No services will be held. (11/22/07)

Rebecca S. Wilde

Rebecca S. Wilde, 75, of Pahrump, passed away Nov. 22, 2007.

She was born July 18, 1932 in the Phillipines and was a resident of Pahrump for five years, having come from Las Vegas.

She had a 16 year education, worked as a teacher and was of the Methodist faith.

Husband Francis Wilde Jr.; son Darrin DeGuia of Pahrump; daughter Debbie Miller of Calif.; mother Rebecca Salazar of Boulder City; four brothers; two sisters and one grandchild survive her.

She was preceded in death by her father and a sister.

Interment is within our hearts. (11/22/07)
