Well owners meeting The Nye County Well Owners Association monthly meeting has been changed to Saturday. The next meeting will be at the Pahrump Library meeting room at 9:30 a.m., Sept. 1. Dances of universal peace Dancing the path to peace honors the sacred traditions of the world through song and dance. The public is invited to attend the event at 2 p.m., Sept. 8, at Haven Selah, 1680 N. Blagg Road. Phrases and movements are simple to learn. Genealogical Society The Genealogical Society will meet Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at LDS Church located at Wilson and West Streets. The speaker will be Stefani Evans, a Certified Genealogist and nationally know presenter, and the subject will be selecting a genealogist to do work for you. Blood drive Pahrump Valley Cruisers, hot rods and big hearts...there will be a United Blood Services blood drive, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Fri. Sept. 7, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Bob Rudd Community Center. All donors will receive a voucher for two tickets to Matsuri at the Sahara Hotel and Casino. PV Garden Club The Pahrump Valley Garden Club will welcome horticulturist, author and columnist, Linn Mills, as a guest speaker at 8 a.m. on Sept. 8. Voces Latinas The Pahrump Arts Council presents Voces Latinas, a showcase of artwork by fifteen artists representing the diverse range of creative voices within the Latino community. The exhibit is curated by the Nevada Museum of Art and is part of the Nevada Arts Council Nevada Touring Initiative Program. The exhibit may be seen at the Nye County courthouse 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily, Mon. - Fri., until Sept. 19. Cinderella Pageant workshops Free modeling workshops will be offered from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 and Sept. 13, at the Bob Rudd Community Center in Room B. Job Fair The State of Nevada Division of Welfare and Supportive Services is sponsoring a Job Fair and would like to invite job seekers in the community of Pahrump and surrounding areas to attend. The Job Fair will be held in the banquet room at the Pahrump Nugget from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., Sept. 20 and is titled "Striving for Excellence." Participation is free to local businesses. Beta Xi meeting The first regular meeting of the Beta Xi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will take place on Wednesday September 5, at 5:30 p.m. at Jennifer's home. This will be a dinner meeting. The meeting is held in the conference room at 9 a.m. Women entrepreneur group forming A support group is forming for women who either own a business in Pahrump or are interested in starting one. Rummage sale Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church is having a rummage sale 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 14, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 15., 781 E. Gamebird Road. Holiday sale Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church will have an "all holiday" sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept 22 in the R. C. Building. Kiwanis week Kiwanis Week kicks off at Saddle West Casino at 4:30 p.m., Sept. 15. with an open bar and Hors d'ouevres. All points on player cards will be matched and donated to the Kiwanis. DAR schedules regular meeting The Pahrump Springs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be holding a regular monthly meeting at the Pahrump Community Library at 10 a.m. Sept. 12. Marilyn Stack will present a program on the history of quilt making. The DAR Museum quilt collection will be presented by Julia Burton Avery. Anyone interested in attending is welcome. Charleston Elementary School is scheduled at 6 p.m. and another at 6:30 p.m., Wed., Aug. 29 in the multi-purpose room. Teachers will be in their classrooms from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Volunteer Homeland Reserve Unit VHRU is an organized group of retired and former law enforcement officers with the mission of providing trained and experienced resources to public safety agencies in Nevada and, potentially, to surrounding areas. VHRU maintains a web site that describes the mission and provides information regarding the organization, leadership, and on-going activities. The web site also contains an application form that can be downloaded by any former law enforcement officer who wants to become a part of the organization. Caregiver training Nathan Adelson Hospice is providing a two-day workshop to teach individuals caregiving in a home/hospice or health care/nursing home environment. The special training class is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., Sept. 17 and 18. The 16 hours of training is free. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance. Space is limited.
