The murder of Derek Koklas, 43, was reportedly the result of an argument between him and his brother, Darius Koklas, 37, according to a Nye County Sheriff's Office press release.

Derek Koklas was shot twice with a shotgun to his head and back at his residence on the 3,000 block of Mary Lou Street last Thursday.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the mother of the two brothers told deputies that they were arguing and she heard Derek state, "Don't point that at me."

The mother told deputies she entered the room and saw Darius shoot Derek and leave. The mother called the sheriff at 10:16 a.m. and an extensive search for the suspect was initiated.

Derek was pronounced dead at the scene.

An alert was put out for law enforcement agencies to look for the suspect and his vehicle, a Buick four-door with Nevada license plates.

At about 11 a.m. Sheriff Tony DeMeo located Darius Koklas driving the car on Manse Road at a distance of approximately 600 feet.

The sheriff negotiated traffic to get close enough to confirm it was the suspect and then radioed his location and a request for backup to conduct the stop.

DeMeo followed Darius for approximately four miles before Dep. Lonnie Daniels arrived to assist him.

Darius turned off Manse Road onto Hafen Ranch Road, and the traffic stop was conducted about 700 feet farther along.

The vehicle was sealed and transported to the Sheriff's Office for evidence processing.

Darius was arrested and booked with murder and is being held without bail.
