According to law enforcement, the suspect was not his brother's keeper.

After an hour-long search Thursday, Nye County Sheriff's Office deputies apprehended and arrested Darius Koklas, 37, who is suspected of killing his brother, Derek Koklas.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Mary Lou Street at approximately 10:30 a.m. in response to a reported shooting.

Upon arriving, deputies found Derek Koklas, 43, shot in the back and the head.

Derek Koklas was pronounced dead at the scene and the boys' mother, whose name was not given, told deputies Darius had shot him and fled the scene.

At approximately 11:15 a.m., Darius' vehicle was spotted by Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo traveling east on Manse Road.

DeMeo awaited the arrival of other officers, whereupon Darius was apprehended at Hafen Ranch Road. Details as to the motivation for the shooting were unavailable at the time of this writing, but the Sheriff's Office reported that an investigation into the incident is still going on.
