Volleyball camp at RCMS

The Sharks' volleyball camp is Aug. 21-24, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day in the Rosemary Clarke Middle School gym.

The cost is $35 per player. A parents' meeting will start at 6 p.m. Monday at the school.

Softball leagues forming for fall

Men and Co-ed slow-pitch softball leagues are forming for the fall.

Competition will begin the week of Sept. 10 and continue through the week of Nov. 30. All games will be doubleheaders.

Athletic forms are available

The athletic registration/physical examination packets are available at Pahrump Valley High School.

They can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., just inside the main doors to the right. The forms are newly revised and all physical examinations must be on these forms; any other forms will not be accepted.

Any student planning to participate in football, volleyball, soccer, cross country, cheer, drill team, or girls golf must complete a registration packet and get a new physical exam performed by a licensed physician.

Football practice began Thursday. The other fall sports started Monday.

2007 Sharks' schedule out

The 2007 Rosemary Clarke Middle School football practice began at 6 p.m. Monday, with the openers Sept. 8. Bret Hart is the Sharks' coach.

Subsequent games are Sept. 15, at Overton Moapa Valley Warriors, 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m.; Sept. 21, at Las Vegas Faith Lutheran, 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Sept. 29, at Overton Moapa Valley Bisons, 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Also, Oct. 6, home vs. Warriors, 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m.; Oct. 13, home vs. Faith Lutheran, 10 a.m. and noon; Oct. 20, home vs. Bullhead City, Ariz., 10 a.m. and noon, and Nov. 3, home vs. Ely White Pine, times to be announced.

Prospective athletes must have physical examination forms and other required documentation completed before they are eligible to participate in preseason workouts.

500 names event winners

The Pahrump 500 Club named winners of its bowling tournament held Saturday at the Nugget.

Donna Whitaker was first with 814. Jim Vernon led the groupies with 837. George Whitaker won the 50-50. No-tap 300 games were bowled by Bob McPhillips and Don Woods.

The next club tournament will be Sept. 8 for members only.
