Reno sports writer joins nevprep.comSPECIAL TO THE PVT
Nevprep.com has been wheeling and dealing, signing veteran Reno-Gazette Journal sports writer and editor Joe Santoro to a multi-game deal, the sports Web site has announced. Terms were not disclosed. After 18 years at the Gazette-Journal, Santoro has resigned and will cover prep sports for nevprep.com this fall, primarily reporting on Northern 4-A football. A Yerington resident, Herb Hall, purchased the Web site from Chuck Hildebrand in June. While he served in various capacities at the Reno newspaper, Santoro is best known as the high school guy as he became the face most people associated with the Gazette-Journal's coverage of high school football, basketball, baseball and softball. Santoro is also known for his now-retired "Sports Fodder" column, which was required reading for sports fans every Friday morning for more than 15 years. Santoro will write nevprep.com's previews for both the Class 4-A Sierra and High Desert leagues.
