SPECIAL TO THE PVT

The Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners set season dates for upland game, furbearer and wild turkey seasons at their June meeting.

Detailed information on season dates, bag and possession limits, shooting hours and other hunting regulations can be found at NDOW offices statewide or on the Web site at www.ndow.org.

At their meeting today and Saturday in Ely, commissioners plan to address the possible addition of special youth upland game and turkey hunts. Snowcock, crow, blue and ruffed grouse and dove kick things off when those seasons open on Sept. 1.

Sage grouse is next up with two limited entry hunts on the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge, with the first hunt Sept. 15 -16, followed by the second hunt Sept. 22 -23.

The Sheldon hunts are limited to 75 hunters each and are available through application only. Regular sage grouse seasons open on Sept. 25 or Oct. 5 depending on county.

Chukar, Hungarian partridge, quail and rabbit seasons all open Oct. 13, followed by the pheasant opener Nov.1.

Fall turkey seasons open Oct. 5 through Oct. 25, depending on the area. All turkey hunts require a tag, awarded by random draw. Applications and instructions are available at department offices or on the agency website at www.ndow.org. Hunters have until 5 p.m. Sept. 7 to submit their applications.
