A 9-2 victory against Oregon gave Pahrump some solace, after losing three games in the West Senior Little League Baseball Regional tournament at Salem, Ore., last week.

Pahrump, the Nevada champion, finished fourth in Pool A, with losses to San Diego, Calif. (10-5), Columbus, Mont. (16-1), and Port Townsend, Wash. (16-6), preceding the win against Caved Junction, Ore.

The tournament concluded Tuesday, with defending champion Hawaii (4-0) playing Arizona (3-1) in the title game. Hilo Little League is representing Hawaii, with Tucson's Sunnyside Little League the Arizona entry. The winner advances to the Senior LL World Series, to be played this weekend at Bangor, Maine.

Other entries in the tournament were Ketchikan, Alaska, San Jose, Calif., and Emmett, Idaho.

Hawaii got to the finals by outslugging Montana 15-7, with Arizona stopping Southern California 2-0 in Monday games.

Several Pahrump players will join a travel team that will compete in as many as 15 games this fall, said Doug Marion, the Pahrump Valley High School coach.

"Shayne Greenland (the coach at Overton Moapa Valley) and I talked about forming this team, and we could get some players from Eldorado and Del Sol," said Marion. "Our players will be those boys who are not on Pahrump Valley's fall sports teams."

Expected to play? Ethan Wald, Brandon Uyeno, Cody Nielsen, Garrett Darr, Tyler Lepley, and Mike Gonzalez, said Marion.

Rancho, representing Nevada in the Silver Division regionals at Jennings, La., lost 3-0 and 7-3 to Louisiana in the American Legion-based tournament last weekend.

In the Nevada American Legion state tournament, being contested at Wilson Stadium on the UNLV campus, Coronado edged Silverado 7-6; Green Valley rallied past No. 1 Sierra Vistga 8-6; Bishop Gorman stopped Reno 6-1; Durango outslugged Spring Valley 13-12; Silverado eliminated Sierra Vista 8-5, and Coronado stunned Green Valley 10-4.

There are two games today (5 p.m., 8 p.m), Thursday (5 p.m., 8 p.m.) and Friday (to be announced). The championship showdown is at 7:30 p.m., Saturday.
