CHAMPIONS SWEEP SAITTA-TRUDEAU Hustlers win One-Pitch titlePVT The Hustlers, comprised mostly of former Pahrump Valley High School baseball players, won the One-Pitch All-Night Slow-Pitch Softball tournament title, defeating another area team, Saitta-Trudeau, 9-8 in the championship game Sunday morning at Petrack Park. The Hustlers had to win two straight to claim the title -- and they did, starting with a 14-5 conquest of previously unbeaten Saitta-Trudeau. In the deciding game -- played as the sun was rising -- Nate Alexander slugged a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Hustlers the title. The team, organized by long-time coach-manager-umpire Lou Banuelos and sponsored by Empire Refrigeration, had gone 1-3 in round-robin games. Saitta-Trudeau was 4-0, while Las Vegas Two and Q was 3-1, as were the Pahrump Bud Lite Bandits. At 2-2 were Heath Co., Cabinet Guy, and the Las Vegas Knights. The Sand Baggers were 0-4, as were The Bro's. The tourney format was simple. Each batter could take only one swing, with games played on a 30-minute time limit. Ken Causey was the director for the tournament, which attracted a steady stream of fans throughout the night.
