WOMEN'S RODEO FRIDAY, SATURDAY Tough enough to wear pink?

It will be 'Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night' Saturday, at the Women's Professional Rodeo Association's weekend rodeo in McCullough Arena. The rodeo sponsor, Rocking M, will donate $1 for each person who wears pink to The Southern Nevada Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Saturday. Action starts at 8 p.m. On Thursday, there will be a pre-rodeo party in the arena at 8 p.m., with live music. The first night of the rodeo is Friday, beginning at 8. Advance tickets are available at Shadow Mountain Feed, Windrock Ranch Country Store, Pahrump Western Wear, and Arnie's Cocktail Lounge. The gates open at 7 p.m. each day of the rodeo. There is no definitive entry list for the two nights of competition. But in past rodeos contested in McCullough Arena, Jolee Lauteret of Kingman, Ariz., has been among the entries in barrel racing. Lauteret, accordingc to the WPRA Web site, has earned $226,216.12 in her career, including $56,332.48 in 2004, prior to the National Finals Rodeo that year. Dolli Lauteret, Jolee's mother, has been a rodeo competitor since 1980, competing in barrel racing and team roping/heeling. In barrel racing, Dollie Lauteret has year-to-date earnings of $1,269.05. Teri James, from Payson, Ariz., competes in breakaway, team roping and barrel racing. In team roping-header world standings, James is first with $1,319.03, barely ahead of the $1,257.73 posted by Jolee Lauteret. DeeDee Crawford, from Ben Wheeler, Texas, has competed in bull riding and bareback riding. Crawford has qualified for nine women's NFRs. Crawford is first in bull riding with $565.64; Mandy Shipskey is second at $382.72. The leader in barrel racing is Kay Blandford of Sutherland Springs, Texas, with $14,185.35. Second is Jymmy Kay Davis, Gonzalez, Texas, with $11,264.90, and third is Teresa Kerr Brown, Huntersville, N.C., with $8,688.28. In all women's breakaway roping, Debbie Robbins is first with $1,351.68, with Leigh Ann Billingsley second with $955.45. Kim Williamson leads the tie-down roping world standings with $786.60; Debbie Robbins is second at $560.50. In the roping-heeler standings, Tammy Lewis is first with $2,304.58. Dolli Lauteret is second with $2,128.66. According to the WPRA schedule, the women's Wilderness circuit moves on to Tonopah for a rodeo Aug. 10-11, during a sequence of programs at Panguitch, Utah, Friday-Sunday; Coalville, Utah, Aug. 10-11, and Monticello, Utah, Aug. 10-11.
