Toni Murphy, 45, of Pahrump, found out that forged checks leave a paper trail when she was arrested and booked on numerous charges dealing with embezzlement last week.

Investigation by sheriff's deputies indicated that Murphy, a former employee at AVCO Construction, had written company checks to herself and her business ("CD-Bear Home Services") on 21 separate occasions.

The checks were not authorized by the company's owners.

Detectives located Murphy at her residence where she was arrested and booked on 21 counts of embezzlement, 21 counts of forgery, and 21 counts of burglary.

Her bail was set at $357,000.
