Spring Creek, 4-0, completed a sweep of Southern 3-A rivals Friday, with a 21-7 conquest of Overton Moapa Valley and thus retained the No.1 billing ahead of Mesquite Virgin Valley, 4-1 after its 63-0 rout of 2-A Ely White Pine. Tonight, Spring Creek goes to No. 3 Dayton, 4-0, for a key Northern 3-A League contest, while Virgin Valley opens the Southern campaign at Las Vegas Faith Lutheran, 1-3. Battle Mountain, 5-0, downed non-league rival North Tahoe 44-8 to stay at the top of the 2-A ratings. Pershing County Lovelock, 4-0, defeated league rival Yerington Rite of Passage 35-6 and is ranked second. Alamo, clearly the best Class A (eight-man) team in Nevada, has won 17 straight, with the defending state champion's latest victory a 54-7 conquest of previously undefeated and No.2-ranked Carlin.
