Animals, Yucca on the agenda
A public hearing on a bill amending the Nye County animal control ordinance will be heard at 10 a.m. when County Commissioners meet Tuesday in Tonopah. The bill would establish an animal control board to hear complaints on issues like barking dogs and impose strict requirements on owners of exotic animals. The public in Pahrump may participate by video conference. (That isn't listed on the agenda, so in the event the equipment malfunctions, the meeting can legally continue in Tonopah. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m.) A revision on the Nye County Code to either ban or increase fees for disposal of solid waste from out of state at the Pahrump landfill is also on the agenda. The purchase of a $2 million microwave system for the Nye County Sheriff's Department, which would connect Pahrump to Beatty, Tonopah and Warm Springs, will be considered. The county received a $1.48 million grant for the project. Commissioners will vote on ratifying the new director of the Nuclear Waste Repository Project Office. |
