The Community Anti-Drug Coalition has chosen Nye Communities Coalition as a finalist in its Got Outcomes Competition.

Cecelia Alvarado-Salle made the announcement during the public comment segment at Tuesday's Town Advisory Board meeting.

As a finalist, members of the group will be sent for training for drug abuse and alcohol abuse prevention.

"It's really awesome, and the folks that work there are really dedicated people," said Alvarado-Salle.

She also said "The coalition especially thanks Wulfy's, Escape Zone, Beatty Town Pool, Union 76 in Beatty, Pahrump Town Pool, Wal-Mart, Terrible's at Basin and 160. The United Way also played a significant role.

"Then there are all the people in this community who have contributed to the success with their volunteer time and donations. I'm here to thank the community of Pahrump on behalf of the coalition."

The coalition was also recently chosen to host a talk by the deputy director of drug enforcement, who came to talk against Proposition 7, the proposition to legalize marijuana.
