FALL ROUNDUP Dean runs second in Laughlin meet
The Pahrump Valley cross country teams travel to Las Vegas Saturday, to compete in the Angel Park Invitational, starting at 9 a.m. Registration is at 7:15 a.m., with the races in the 2.5-mile event divided into classes. The schedule: 8 a.m. -- Ninth-grade boys; 8:30 a.m. -- Ninth-grade girls; 9 a.m. -- 10th-grade boys; 9:30 a.m. -- 10th-grade girls. 10 a.m. -- 11th-grade boys; 10:30 a.m. -- 11th-grade girls; 11 a.m. -- 12th-grade boys; 11:30 a.m. -- 12th-grade girls. The Trojans competed in the Laughlin Invitational Saturday, with McKenzie Dean finishing second in the small-school varsity race in 22 minutes, 29 seconds. It was the first 3.1-mile race of the season. JoJo Stanton of Boulder City won in 21:31.95, with Las Vegas Faith Lutheran's Gioia Rhodes third in 22:43.07. Nicole Dillon was 24th in 31:23, with Tiffany Kelley 25th in 34:42 for the Trojans. For the PVHS boys, David Jacobi was 27th in 21:20. Daniel Spradlin was 33rd in 21:50, Josh Armendariz 41st in 23:06, Noah Poulos 48th in 24:27, and Dylan Dance 51st in 25:35. Scott Moser did not finish because of an injury. Laughlin will host the Southern Nevada Class A, 2-A and 3-A cross country regionals Oct. 27. The state meet will be at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City Nov. 4. Trojans sweep White Pine The Pahrump Valley boys and girls soccer teams swept Ely White Pine in Southern Nevada Class 3-A League soccer Saturday. Tuesday, both teams took on Las Vegas Faith Lutheran in league contests. Thursday, the PV boys are at home against Las Vegas The Meadows in another 3-A contest, starting at 3 p.m. Daimon Nelson scored two goals, while Sergio Castro and Francisco Herrera netted one each, as Pahrump Valley shelled Ely White Pine 4-1 at the PVHS field. In the girls' game, played at Ely, Taylor Raymer scored the three-goal hat trick and Brittany Orr added one, in Pahrump Valley's 4-0 victory. |
