Hosting teams from Las Vegas Faith Lutheran, Pahranagat Valley Alamo and Moapa Valley, the Rosemary Clarke Middle School Lady Sharks opened the volleyball season Sept. 15.

Both the Lady Shark A and B teams swept the titles in their respective division.

The tournament started with each team playing three pool games.

The Sharks' A team easily advanced as the top seed into the single elimination bracket play against Mack Lyon Middle School. The Lady Sharks dispatched the Mustangs 25-13 and 25-13.

Alamo defeated Faith Lutheran 2-1 to advance to the finals.

The Sharks started quickly in the championship game to take a 16-7 lead. The score was tied at 21 before the Lady Sharks were able to secure a 25-22 victory.

After jumping to a 6-0 lead, the Lady Sharks fell behind 23-13. The Lady Sharks rallied, but lost 25-19.

In the finale, the Sharks streaked to an early lead at 8-1 before the Panthers closed to 9-8. The Lady Sharks were able to close out the match, 15-9.

The Sharks' B and C teams competed in the B division. The Lady Sharks B team came out of pool play as the top seed and faced the C team in the first round of bracket play.

The B team advanced with a 25-19, 27-26 victory. The Lady Panthers advanced to the finals with a 25-17, 11-25, and 17-15 victory against Faith Lutheran.

The B team played an exciting championship match against the Lady Panthers prevailing 25-10, 25-27, 15-12.
