LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
One is not born to hate This is to the racial bigot responsible for leaving the hurtful, racial slur message on a new teacher's car in a school's parking lot. Someone has taught you to believe as you do. Maybe you never learned to think for yourself. It is obvious that you have sent your child to school to be taught by others. My hope for your child/children is that they will not learn from you to hate before being taught that human beings come in other colors, not only white. Humanity is a beautiful combination of shades as of a bouquet of flowers. One is not born hating, "You have to be taught to hate." Frances V. Rust Teeing off from my chest Great article on all the kudos about Willow Creek golf course. As usual, it seems like the golf course superintendent didn't do anything at all on renovating the course to its present condition and neither did David Gilmore's crew do any work during the long summer days. As always, golf directors and the local pros are available for credit due without ever mentioning the super and crew. I know, been there many times myself, but oh, I forgot to mention, if something goes wrong it's the superintendent's fault. Then he gets popular with the golfers' rants; most times they can't play the game. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. Nick Giordano Retired golf course superintendent The record is open I am a very direct and honest person. I have and will continue to conduct myself in the most respectful manner that I feel is deserved by the wonderful residents of my community. All of them. That is why I am so disappointed that my primary opponent is so distraught over his loss that he has chosen to make untrue accusations about me and my campaign. Now, since certain items regarding my campaign have been presented publicly as "facts," I will respond in the same media. Anyone may look at the financial contribution and expense reports filed by candidates for public office as required by Nevada State Law. My report is available on the Nevada Secretary of State Web site. I would suggest that you look at all of the candidates that you may be considering for office. You will find no contribution listed in my report from the "Nevada Water District", as some have inaccurately claimed. I received no money from any "water district" or water authority. Support for my candidacy to be assemblywoman has come from a number of individuals in Assembly District 36, as well as from groups representing people who live in our district. I am proud to have the support of the Nevada State Education Association, an organization that represents educators and support staff throughout the entire state of Nevada, including all of the school districts in District 36; the Nevada Conference Of Police and Sheriffs; Professional Firefighters of Nevada; and the International Union of Operating Engineers, who represent many men and women who work at the Nevada Test Site and live in District 36, to list just a few. These contributors have listed offices in Las Vegas, but they are committed to serving working families throughout Nevada, as am I. I am also proud to have received the support of a number of Assembly members. They determined that I am a hard-working, honest and committed public servant, and they are willing to support my bid to become a contributing member of the Assembly team. I feel particularly honored by their demonstrated trust in my capabilities to do the job required of our Assembly members. Anyone who has observed my performance on the Pahrump Town Board or RPC knows firsthand that I take direction only from the people of Pahrump and stand strong for the issues important to the citizens I was elected to represent. Hopefully, everyone will take the initiative to educate themselves on all of the individuals who are offering to serve as your representative in any public office. I am open and willing to discuss any issues or concerns that any citizens have. I have an established reputation for listening and responding to people who have contacted me, and I invite you to take the time to do that. I will speak with you directly on your personal questions. Laurayne Murray Get the FBI Recently, there has been much discussion about the vote count in Pahrump's primary election. It has been proven that the voting machines that were used can be easily hacked into and the vote count could be manipulated. What this town needs is a federal grand jury to find out if our elections are as phony as a three-dollar bill or honest and true as they should be. We need the FBI to bring their knowledge, expertise and power to form a grand jury and find out the truth, whether or not our last three elections were all a farce. As the saying goes, "If you have nothing to hide, then you won't mind answering a few questions." I hope the FBI gets things started soon so Pahrump can get back on the right track, and we can put all these accusations to rest, because without their help, our county will be known as the three-dollar bill county.
