SPECIAL TO THE PVT

When they meet today and Saturday in Eureka, the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners will consider funding predation management projects, adoption of the Mule Deer Management Plan, and wildfire rehabilitation, among other topics.

Various predation management projects were discussed in-depth during the August commission meeting, and the commission will consider approval of funds to support coordination with USDA Animal Plant Health Inspection Services Wildlife Services to complete approved projects.

The Mule Deer Management Plan, developed in committee, will be presented for commission approval. The four objectives of the mule deer plan are habitat protection and improvement, population management, harvest, and communications/outreach.

Additionally, the commission will hear a report on the effects of wildfires in Elko County on wildlife, and may support a proposal to seek congressional funding to rehabilitate burned rangelands.
