FISHING REPORT

LAKE MEAD

Several tournaments took place over the weekend at Lake Mead and the anglers did well for striped, largemouth, and smallmouth bass.

The coves near the Muddy River inlet were particularly productive. Echo Bay fishing picked up this week.

Several nice sized largemouth bass were caught at the Meat-hole and to the right of the marina area. Competitors in the Nevada Striper Club tournament reported to the Nevada Department of Wildlife's creel census clerks that they were catching stripers averaging 2-3 pounds in many locations throughout the Echo Bay area.

LAKE MOHAVE

Anglers at the Willow Beach area had terrific luck Saturday, with reports of eight and ten pound stripers, and three 12 pound stripers caught. Additionally, 18, 20 and 30-pound stripers were caught Friday.

Sunday was equally busy with several one to three pound stripers and three catfish, one weighing five pounds, recorded by Martin Olson, a department creel census clerk.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA

Trout fishing continues to improve with cooler water temperatures.

More than 7,000 trout were stocked into Adams-McGill last week and Cold Springs and Haymeadow are scheduled to be stocked the end of this week.

EAGLE VALLEY

RESERVOIR

Largemouth bass are still biting near the cattails on the far shore of the lake.

Recently, a two-pound largemouth bass was caught. Rainbow trout have started to get more active as water temperature decreased to 60 degrees and weeds have died off.

Surface action for the trout is improving using flies or spinning lures. Seven thousand trout were stocked into the reservoir Tuesday.

ECHO CANYON

RESERVOIR

Water temperatures are dropping as overnight temperatures have been in the high 30's, which means the trout fishing has also been picking up.

Anglers continue to have their best success using Powerbait off the bottom, from the dam. Four thousand trout were stocked Wednesday. Those fishing for bass and crappie had less success this week as the warm water fish don't enjoy the chilly evening temperatures.

URBAN PONDS

Catfish were stocked into Sunset Park and Hafen Park Ponds (Mesquite) Sept. 12, and the Veteran's Memorial Park Pond, Lorenzi Park Pond, and Floyd Lamb State Park Sept. 13.

Anglers are still catching warm water species such as largemouth bass, bluegill, and green sunfish in all the Las Vegas area ponds.
