Travis J. Campbell of Pahrump, 18, joined the U.S. Army July 4, 2006, and completed nine weeks of basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. He graduated Sept. 15.

From Fort Knox, Campbell was sent to San Antonio, Texas for advanced training, where he is currently studying to be an operating room specialist in a 19-and-a-half week program.

A graduate of Pahrump Valley High School, he is the son of Mark and Carolyn Campbell of Pahrump (formerly of New Hampshire).
