Interviews with two remaining candidates for Nye County manager will take place Monday, continuing discussions about the development agreement with Focus Property Group Tuesday and other planning matters Wednesday, as county commissioners hold three days of meetings next week at the Pahrump Community Center. Lionel Bushey II, chief administrative officer in Eagle River, Wis., and Barbara Blumenfield, a consultant and a former city administrator in Oak Creek, Wis., are the two remaining finalists for the county manager job. They will be interviewed at 1:30 p.m. Monday. Sixty-seven people inquired about the job, 50 applications or resumes were received, of which 23 responded to supplemental questionnaires. A screening committee narrowed that down to five finalists to succeed Mike Maher, who was terminated last March. Three of the five finalists are no longer under consideration. The contentious development agreement with Focus Property Group for the Gateway project at Highway 160 and Manse Road which would include up to 5,800 housing units, will be heard at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The discussion is being continued after a two-day session in Tonopah Sept. 5-6. A report on the habitat conservation program for the desert tortoise in Pahrump Valley will be heard at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Commissioners will also be presented an audit report on the Pahrump Senior Center for 2004 and 2005 at 10 a.m. Commissioners will consider a request to purchase three ambulances for the Nye County ambulance service, at a cost of $299,174. A request for disposal of various public lands requested by the Pahrump town board is on the agenda. Round Mountain Gold Co., has a request to petition Gov. Kenny Guinn to remove lands with high mineral potential in the Toquima Range from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest's inventory of road-less areas. In other north county matters, a $55,000 grant application to the Nevada Commission for Cultural Affairs to restore the old courthouse in Tonopah is on the agenda. The planning agenda for Wednesday begins with an 8:30 a.m. item to adopt the swimming pool, spa and hot tube code within the Pahrump Regional Planning District. A development agreement for the Mountain Falls North subdivision follows. Appeals will be heard of the Pahrump Regional Planning Commission's denial of the subdivision of 17 acres into 242 lots for Desert Rose Townhomes on 4301 N. Blagg and the subdividing of 84.2 acres of rural estates into 46 residential lots on 4751 W. Adkisson St. Zone changes will be considered for property located at 1421 S. Star Rd., 4210 E. Manse, 3670 N, Highway 160, 1670 S. Galaxy St., 801 S. Blagg, 401 S. Frontage Rd., 3141 N. Linda St., 3870 W. Irene St., 3271 Manse and 5400 E. Turner Blvd. The Forum Group has requested an extension of time to complete utility system improvements. |
