The manager of the Alcoholics Anonymous First Step Club says accusations by the mother of one member are simply false.

In a letter, Sandra Dalton of Pahrump expressed concern about the management of the club.

According to Dalton, whose daughter is a member of the club, manager Cindy Jenree "hates being there" and is "rude and downright mean" to many of the members.

Dalton also said that Jenree deliberately removed comfortable chairs and the television from the club, and has discouraged family members and children from attending meetings with members because "the kids get on her nerves."

In her letter, Dalton said she is not alone in her feelings, claiming that Jenree "has chased away more than half the club's members, many of them boycotting the club completely."

Jenree, who has managed The First Step Club on and off for 10 years, said the accusations are completely false. She said the chairs and television were never removed but were pushed aside on a single occasion because the carpets were being cleaned.

She also maintained that the families of members are welcome to attend meetings, but she stressed that children are not allowed in the club area (separate from where meetings are held) unsupervised.

Jenree also said that her actions are just a reflection of board decisions and the established bylaws of the club.

"As club manager I have no voting power and just enforce what the bylaws state," said Jenree.
