NDOW SEEKS VOLUNTEERS

Carpenter Canyon clean-up project scheduled Sept. 23

The Nevada Department of Wildlife will conduct a clean-up project in Carpenter Canyon Sept. 23

Carpenter Canyon is located in the Spring Mountains near Pahrump and has a stream which is the only local habitat for Lahontan cutthroat trout.

Volunteers of all ages are invited to meet at the department office at 4747 Vegas Drive at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 23, to ride or caravan to Carpenter Canyon.

The department will be able to provide transportation for a limited number of people. Vehicles will return to the department office at approximately 5 p.m.

High clearance two wheel-drive or four wheel-drive vehicles are recommended for driving the road into the canyon. Volunteers are advised to bring a lunch and something cool to drink. For more information and to reserve a ride space, contact Chris Pietrafeso at 1-702-486-5127, extension 3850.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife is the state agency responsible for the restoration, protection and management of fish and wildlife resources, and the promotion of boating safety on Nevada's waters.
