Courtney Salmon and Ashlee Bartholomew, whose play in the 2005 Nevada State Class 3-A Girls Golf Championships helped Pahrump Valley win its second title in four years, came through again last Thursday.

Playing in a Southern League match at Palm Valley in Las Vegas, Salmon shot 96 and Bartholomew 97 as the Lady Trojans totaled 475 to stop host Faith Lutheran (487). Mesquite Virgin Valley had 509, while Boulder City had 548. For the second straight week, Overton Moapa Valley did not have any one entered.

Salmon had 96 in the No. 3 position for the Trojans; that score beat the 110 scored by Faith's Brooke Prendes. At No. 4, Bartholomew's 97 topped the 107 recorded by Reba Schneiderman.

Candra Sumedhatip, who figures to give Pahrump Valley's Desiree Fortin a battle for Southern player of the year honors, was medalist; the Crusaders' senior shot a 76, while Fortin, the top player in 2004 and 2005, had 81.

At No. 2, Ashley Keller shot 90 for coach Julie Floyd's team, while Kaitlin Main had 99 for the Crusaders.

Jasper Biggs had 111 at No. 5 for Pahrump Valley, with Becca Reighard shooting 99 for Faith Lutheran.

Samantha Stearns had 139 at No. 6 for the Trojans, while Shawn Haggerty had 106 for the Crusaders.

Samantha Bulloch (92) and Amanda Bulloch (93) paced Virgin Valley, which was third in the 2005 state tournament. Brittany Thurston added 98, Nakelle Faught 110 and Felisha Baseza 116 for the Bulldogs. Not counting was the 130 shot by Hannah Buloch.

For Boulder City's youthful Lady Eagles, Ashley Vince had 104, Margot Potter 106, Heidi Harteis 109, Ana McCollum 110, Bethany Smith 119 and Tara McKeever 129.

The next league match is Thursday and will be hosted by Virgin Valley. On Sept. 14, Moapa Valley is to entertain the Southern teams, and on Sept. 15, Pahrump Valley plays in an invitational tournament at San Clemente, Calif.

Pahrump Valley's first home meet -- at Mountain Falls -- is Sept. 21, starting at 11 a.m.
