On the Fourth of July each summer, they do battle on the softball field.

Saturday night, at the Pahrump Valley High School football field, the Nye County Sheriff's Department and the Pahrump Valley Fire-Rescue Service will collide in the Fundraiser for Safeplace Guns & Hoses flag football game.

The program, which includes a parade and the Pahrump Valley High School marching band, plus other events, will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is $6 for adults, with children under 10 admitted free.

Fans are also asked to support the Salvation Army's Thanksgiving Food Give-A-Way by bringing canned food items, which will be worth $1 off the admission price.
