Bottom line: PVHS gets into playoffs with win over BC

Read all of this to get a clear picture on the Southern Nevada Class 3-A League football playoffs.

There is one certainty.

The winner of the Pahrump Valley-Boulder City game Thursday will be the No. 4 seed and play at No. 1 in the first round of the playoffs.

Moapa Valley can win the title and the No. 1 seed for the playoffs, with a victory against neighborhood rival Mesquite Virgin Valley Thursday.

Virgin Valley raced to a 49-10 victory against non-league opponent Las Vegas Legacy Friday.

A Virgin Valley win, on the other hand, would create a three-way tie with Moapa Valley and Las Vegas Faith Lutheran (3-1, 4-4), which edged Boulder City 23-20 in overtime Friday night and has the league bye Thursday. The Crusaders will play Legacy.

If Moapa Valley loses, the Pirates would win the point-differential tiebreaker unless it loses by 13 or more points, since Faith Lutheran is at zero within the possible tie, losing 37-20 to Moapa Valley and beating Virgin Valley 31-15.

In that case, Moapa Valley would host Boulder City or Pahrump Valley in the Southern 3-A play-in round, while Faith Lutheran would take second and host Virgin Valley by virtue of the Crusaders' win over the Bulldogs.

If Virgin Valley beats Moapa Valley by 13 points or more, the Bulldogs would win the points-allowed tiebreaker if they also hold the Pirates to fewer than 13 points.

There are several other tie-breakers to determine the top three teams in the playoffs.
