Assuming everybody will be healthy, Pahrump Valley will have both boys and girls teams entered in the Southern Nevada Class 3-A Cross Country Championships Friday at Mountain View Park in Laughlin.

Coach Richard Andersen had five girls and six boys compete in the Southern Nevada All-Class Championships Saturday at Bunker Park in Las Vegas.

The regionals' schedule:

Mountain View Park can be reached by taking U.S. 95 to Highway 163 east (Needles Highway) into Laughlin. Turn left into Mountain View Park, where the 3.1-mile course for the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association-sanctioned meet is located.

The top two teams and the top three finishers off non-qualifying teams will advance to the state championships, to be contested Nov. 4 at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City. Joining them will be three Northern 3-A teams and five runners off non-qualifying schools.

The state meet schedule is:

Class 2-A Boys -- 10 a.m.;

Class 3-A Boys -- 10:40 a.m.;

Class 4-A Boys -- 11:15 a.m.

Boys awards -- 11:45 a.m.

Class 2-A Girls -- 12:15 p.m.;

Class 3-A Girls -- 1 p.m.;

Class 4-A Girls -- 1:40 p.m.

Girls awards -- 2:10 p.m.

At the Bunker Park meet, Pahrump Valley's McKenzie Dean won the Small Schools Division's 3-mile run in 19 minutes, 29:77 seconds.

Teammates Stephanie Andros (25:08.5), Tiffany Kelley (27:32.16), Nicole Dillon (27:54.85) and Sabina Statz (31:43.69) were ninth, 12th, 14th, and 18th, respectively, as the Trojans totaled 50 points to tie Class 2-A Las Vegas The Meadows for second place. Laughlin had 22 points to win.

In the overall standings, Dean was fifth, with the best time 18:58.61 by Michaelanne Laurent of Henderson Coronado.

David Jacobi, a freshman, was fourth in the small schools' main; he finished in 18:57:26 and was the first 3-A boy to finish the race. The Trojans had 39 points to finish behind the 23 of Laughlin and ahead of the 62 by Las Vegas Faith Lutheran.
