The Rosemary Clarke Middle School Sharks volleyball teams took on the Mustangs from The Meadows Middle School at home Saturday. The 'Stangs brought five teams to compete against the A, B and C Team Sharks. The A Team opened against Meadows I with a 25-19 victory. The 'Stangs fought back in the second game to take a 25-21 win. The final game started slowly for the Sharks.The Sharks fell behind 10-4, before mounting a comeback to knot the score at 12-12. The Sharks took the first lead at 13-12 off a kill from Casey Scheller. The match remained close and was tied at 16-16 when an ace from Ashley Lindgren put the Sharks up for good at 17-16 before winning 18-16. The second match against the Meadows I group started much the same as the first. The Sharks won 25-16 before losing 13-25. The final game was no contest as the Sharks breezed to a 9-2 lead and won going away, 15-4. The Meadows II group was easily dispatched by the Sharks 25-14, 25-23 in the first match. The second match found the Sharks prevailing 25-23, 25-22. The Sharks served well throughout the matches. Overall the team served at a clip of 88 percent. Ashley Lindgren was perfect in 33 serves and scored points directly off her serve 13 times. Chrissy Seliga served 95 percent, followed by Alyson Kunzi at 92 percent, including 10 aces. The Sharks' hitting was down from past matches with only 11 kills in the 10 games, led by Casey Scheller with 6. The Shark B Team continued their current tear dispatching the 'Stangs in two separate matches. The B Teamers prevailed 25-16 and 25-14 in the first match. The second match also favored the Sharks25-15 and 25-21. The Sixth Grade squad played four matches against two Stangs teams. The Sharks won 18-25, 25-19 and 15-8 and 25-17, 25-20. The Meadows II group won the opening match 24-26, 25-17, and 10-15. The Sharks recovered, winning 25-17 and 25-21. The Sharks volleyball teams will be at home against Beatty Thursday, before traveling to Pahranagat Valley Alamo Saturday for the final matches of the year. The A Team improved its season record to 16-3. The B Team pushed its record to 16-6. |
