Voters who want to find out more information on the candidates running for office in the Nov. 7 election won't have any excuse for being uninformed this go-round. Five candidate forums are scheduled in the space of one week.

North county residents will have a chance to query election wannabes during a candidates forum at 7 p.m. Friday at the Tonopah Convention Center, sponsored by the Tonopah Times-Bonanza & Goldfield News. It will be moderated by reporter Mark Waite.

That will be followed by a candidates forum at the Pahrump Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10054 in Pahrump at 6 p.m. Saturday, followed by another one at the VFW Post at 6 p.m., Oct. 21.

The scene shifts to Amargosa Valley Sunday, with a candidates forum scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Amargosa Valley Community Center.

Finally, the Rotary Club of Pahrump Valley will hold its candidates forum at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Saddle West Hotel and Casino banquet room. This candidates forum had originally been scheduled for Oct. 26 but was bumped up one week to be held before early voting.

Members of the Nye County school board committee promoting the school district's bond initiative, Room 4 Kids 2 Learn, will hold a town hall meeting to explain the initiative and solicit public input in Pahrump at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Pahrump Valley High School gym. Earlier town hall meetings were held in Beatty and Amargosa Valley.

Early voting for the Nov. 7 election begins Oct. 21 and lasts until Nov. 3.
