Thornell, Hibdon win IMCA mains
The Pahrump Valley Speedway kept motorsports fans busy during the Fall Festival last weekend, with plenty of action Friday and Saturday nights on the quarter-mile dirt oval. Saturday winners included Rob Connell in the pro-4s; Randy Thornell in the IMCA modifieds; Peanut Gott in the super stocks; Phil Goodwin in the bombers; Eddie Sharron in the micro sprints; Mike Lysinger in the mini-stocks; Brett Iverson in the Coupes of Nevada, and Austin Black in the outlaw karts. Trailing Connell in the 10-lap pro-4 feature were Eric Sheinberger, Cory Little, Mike Garrison and Terri Little. Thornell, from Apple Valley, Calif., won the 20-lap modified feature, with Todd Nunnally second and Jon Jensen third. They were on the lead lap at the finish, as were Joseph Hardesty, Leland Hibdon, J.R. Caha, Jeff Sheppard and Jerry Buesig Jr. Kelly Buesig, Josh Stringer, Beau Gott, Robert Smotherman and Jim Bonetti were also on the grid. Bryan Wulfenstein was second to Gott in the super stock 15-lap main. Doug Humphries, Keith Gott, and Daniel Katzer completed the 15 laps. Also in the field were Frank Bridwell, Dan Snowden, Cliff Corn, Garrett McCaslin, Stacy Stinson and Dale Daffern. Anthony Finley was second to Goodwin in the bombers' main, a 15-lap race that had Bill Delahunte, J.J. Nunn, Fred Harding and Wade Pearsons racing at the finish. Edwin Wharton and Robert Weseman also started. In the micro sprints, Bob Clark was second, with Erin Sharron, Rick VanBuytene, John Hawkins and Errol Sharron also starting. Lysinger had eight pursuers on the last of 20 laps, including Terri Little, Bill Delahunte, Rick VanBuytene, Rick Gast, Bubba Ray, Marty Hayes, Jim Lysinger and Tom Buckwalter. Chad Broadhead, Tony Martin, Keith Young, T.J. Meyers, Richard Weseman, Frankie England, John Burch Jr. and Darold Brown completed the grid. Bob Clark, William Nunnally, Mike Gray and Sam Stringer chased Iverson in the coupes finale. Taylor Bonetti was second to Black in the outlaw karts feature. Tanner Black, Donavan Williams, Austin Kiefer and Shane Nunnally were also in the chase. Leland Hibdon won the IMCA modified 20-lap feature Friday, with Randy Thornell, Robert Smotherman, Todd Nunnally, and Kelly Buesig in hot pursuit. Completing the top 10 were Levi Kiefer, Jon Jensen, Beau Gott, Jeff Sheppard, and Jerry Buesig Jr. David Boardman, Jim Bonetti and Fred White were also in the field. Frankie England outraced 14 rivals to win the 20-lap mini-stock main. Rick VanBuytene was second, and on the lead lap when the checkered flag fell were Terri Little, Tony Martin, Bill Delahunte, Bubba Ray and Richard Weseman. Jamie Hall, John Burch Jr., Carl England, Darold Brown, Chad Broadhead, Rick Gast, Tom Buckwalter and Alex Buckwalter also started. In the pro-4 15-lap main, the order of finish was Rob Connell, Terri Little, Eric Sheinberg, Tallen Jenkins, and Court Connell. The winner in the 20-lap super stock feature was Doug Humphries, with Frank Bridwell second and Daniel Katzer third. Peanut Gott, Keith Gott, Bryan Wulfenstein, Mike Suber and Dale Daffern also started. In other Friday action, Errol Sharron won the 15-lap micro sprints feature, beating Eddie Sharron. Also starting were Erin Sharron, Bob Clark, Tony Sharron and John Hawkins. In the midget sprints, Jim Eiland was the winner of the 10-lap event, with Shelby York, Les Eiland, Al Ervine, Jack Kersell, Don Melton and Larry Harrison finishing two through seven, respectively. Phil Goodwin won the bombers' 15-lap main, with Wade Pearson, Anthony Finley, Bill Delahunte, Fred Harding and J.J. Nunn completing the starting grid. Kenny VanBlargen won the 10-lap vintage sprints feature, with Norm Jayal second. John Steves, Steve Waugh, Delmer Arndt, Walt James and John Lee were all on the lead lap at the finish. Bill Gerard did not complete a lap. Donavan Williams won the outlaw karts' 10-lap feature, with Shane Nunnally second and Austin Kiefer third. |
