Pahrump Valley vs. Boulder City, one of the Southern Nevada Class 3-A League's most intense soccer rivalries, will be renewed Thursday -- in both the boys' and girls' divisions in the regional tournament.

The boys from PVHS, 8-3-1, and Boulder City, 8-3-1, will play at 4 p.m. on Field 6 at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex on the Cimarron-Memorial High School campus in Las Vegas. At 6 p.m., the Lady Trojans, 5-2-3, will battle Eagles, 7-1-2, on the same field.

The winners advance to the state championship games, to be played Saturday. The boys' title showdown is at 12:30 p.m. on Field 9, with the girls to clash at 10 a.m. on the same field.

In the other boys' semifinal, it will be Las Vegas Faith Lutheran, 10-1-1, vs. Ely White Pine, 8-3-1, at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Faith Lutheran, the No. 1 seed, lost 3-1 to Pahrump Valley two weeks ago to have a 10-game unbeaten streak snapped.

Pahrump Valley's boys won the regional title in 2005; defeated North Tahoe 1-0 in the state semifinals, then lost 2-0 to Truckee, Calif., in the championship game, played at Mackay Stadium on the University of Nevada campus in Reno.

At 4 p.m., the Faith Lutheran top-ranked girls, 8-0-2, will play either Overton Moapa Valley or Ely White Pine, which met in a playoff game Tuesday. Both teams were 3-7.

Faith Lutheran's girls have gone two seasons without losing a regular-season league game, but Boulder City is the defending regional champion. The Eagles lost 1-0 in overtime to North Tahoe in the state semifinals played at Reno North Valleys in 2005.

North Tahoe went on to win the state title for the third straight year, with a 2-1 shootout win against Incline at Mackay Stadium. The Lakers, 6-1-1, will play host Winnemucca Lowry at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Northern regionals.

Truckee's boys, 5-2-1, open defense of their title at 10 a.m. Thursday against Yerington, 5-5-0, on the football field at Lowry High.

The top two teams in both the Southern and Northern regionals will advance to the state tournament, to be played Nov. 10-11 at the Wilson Complex.
