Task force pursues several suspects
By CHRISTINA EICHELKRAUT
The Nye County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) and the U.S. Marshal Service formed a joint task force to find and apprehend possibly dangerous suspects with outstanding warrants in the Pahrump area Thursday, Oct. 26. The search was carried out between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and resulted in several arrests. Ted Zabel, 54, was the first suspect to be arrested at 2171 Blosser Ranch Road for a felony warrant. After further investigation, it was determined that a search warrant for the residence was needed. The warrant was obtained within a few hours, and upon searching the residence officers found six grams of methamphetamine, multiple hypodermic needles, drug paraphernalia and two guns. An unnamed suspect who was wanted for child-related crimes was arrested in Las Vegas by the marshals after being tracked to the Pahrump area. Once it was determined that the wanted individual had left Pahrump, the marshals returned to Las Vegas and found the suspect. Two suspects who had multiple warrants between them had already been apprehended and were placed in custody the previous week. One suspect was wanted for robbery and the other suspect had warrants for stolen property and evading or resisting the police. Another suspect that the joint task force searched for had escaped from a Nevada detention facility and was tracked to the area of Hafen Ranch Road and Superior Lane by the marshals. Although the suspect was not at the location, additional information was gathered by officers about the residence. |
