Poker free-roll tourney Aug. 12
The sixth in a series of 11 free-roll Texas hold'em no-limit poker tournaments will be played Aug. 12, starting at 4 p.m. at the Nugget Casino-Hotel in Pahrump. The top 20 qualifiers in tournaments played through January 2007 will play in the finals Feb. 10, with the grand prize a $10,000 seat in the World Series of Poker. Through the first five free-rolls, 19 players have scored at least one point. Blake Lozo, a Pac-10 football official and poker dealer, is first with 20 points, thanks to his wins in the April and May tournaments. Second with 15 points is Jim Robertson, who won in March and was second in the July tournament. Third at 14 points is Frank Polansky, who won the July event and post four points in two previous starts. Rob Lisull, the June winner, has 10 points. Tied for fifth with five points each are Ben Lagos, Tom Duke, Ken Fiege, Russ Eleogram, and Andy Franzen. Tied for 10th with three points apiece are Doug Gregory, Todd Bock, and Ron Lankenbuhl. Tied for 13th with two points each are Nella Lawson, Ray Guin, Rupert Hodnett, Greg Reno and Don McDermott. Tied for 18th are Mike Greenwich and Skip Woodland. Through five tournaments, a total of $10,500 has been paid out in prize money. Points are awarded: 10, for first; five, for second; three, for third; two, for fourth, and one, for fifth. |
