LAS VEGAS -- Dean Gorsuch tied for first place in the 10th and final round of the National Finals Rodeo to win the world steer wrestling title Saturday night.

Gorsuch, of Gering, Neb., matched K.C. Jones of Decatur, Texas, with a 3.6-second run to win the 10-round aggregate title and the world championship.

Gorsuch trailed Luke Branquinho of Los Alamos, Calif., in the world standings entering the final round. Branquinho tied for third with Stockton Graves of Newkirk, Okla., in 3.9.

Gorsuch ended up with $194,268, while Branquinho, who briefly held a 10th-round lead over Gorsuch, earned $180,308.

"Luke is awesome,'' Gorsuch said. "I had to go get him. It was really great.''

The aggregate race was different, however, as Gorsuch entered the last round as the clear-cut leader and finished with a 10-head total on 47.80 seconds. Joey Bell Jr. of Malakoff, Texas, was second at 58.00 for 10 rounds.

In tie-down roping, Cody Ohl of Hico, Texas, who won the world title Thursday, and picked up the NFR aggregate title and broke the NFR tie-down record with $132,652 by tying for first with Scott Kormos of Teague, Texas, in 7.5 in the 10th round.

Ohl was first in the aggregate at 84.30 seconds, followed by Matt Shiozawa of Chubbuck, Idaho, at 105.40. Lowe just missed breaking the record of 84.00 set by Fred Whitfield of Hockley, Texas, in 1997.

In bareback riding, Will Lowe, of Canyon, Texas, who clinched a second consecutive world standings title Thursday, added the NFR aggregate standings crown with 821.5 points. Bobby Mote of Culver, Ore., was second at 816.

Lowe, who finished third with an 85 on Spring Fling in the 10th round, also set a bareback record by earning $128,302 at the NFR.

Mote, Kelly Timberman of Mills, Wyo., and Forest Bramwell of Pagosa Springs, Colo., tied for first place in the round with 85.5s.

In team roping, Matt Sherwood of Queen Creek, Ariz., won his first header world title and Allen Bach of Stockton, Calif., claimed his fourth heeler crown. Sherwood earned $152,251 and Bach netted $172,986.

Chad Masters of Clarksville, Tenn., and Bach won the aggregate title at 67.60 seconds. They entered the round with a 38-second lead, so their 10th-round time of 20.9 did no harm.

Joe Beaver of Huntsville, Texas, and Cole Bigbee of Stephenville, Texas, placed first for their second consecutive round with a time of 3.9.

In saddle bronc, Chad Ferley of Oelrichs, S.D., claimed his first world title over regular-season champ Cody DeMoss of Heflin, La., who was scratched from the 10th round with a back injury. Ferley won $237,582 compared to $186,890 for DeMoss.

Ferley, however, was unable to take over the aggregate lead from champion J.J. Elshere of Quinn, Neb., who tallied 723 points for nine rounds compared to 720.5 for runner-up Ferley.

Jesse Bail of Camp Crook, S.D., and Bryce Miller of Buffalo, S.D., tied for first with scores of 89 in the 10th round.

In barrel racing, Mary Burger of Pauls Valley, Okla., who placed second in the last round in 13.75, became a world champion with $189,185 compared to $186,618 for world runner-up and NFR aggregate champ Brittany Pozzi of Victoria, Texas. Pozzi claimed the aggregate crown by 0.38 seconds, finishing at 141.12.

Kelly Maben of Spur, Texas, who placed first in the 10th round in 13.67, was third in the world with $173,692.

In bull riding, B.J. Schumacher, of Hillsboro, Wis., who clinched both the world and NFR aggregate titles Friday, won the 10th round with a 92.5 on Cash Prize and set an NFR earnings record with $142,644. Schumacher was the only rider to cover eight of his 10 bulls.
