LAKE MEAD

The late summer heat continues to take its toll on anglers fishing the lake. Several small stripers and largemouth bass were caught in the Stewart's Point and Muddy River areas, but few fish were brought in from the Echo Bay and the Callville Bay areas. The Boulder Basin has seen limited top-water action off the Special Events beach.

The angler access dock located near Horsepower Cove and the Las Vegas Marina will be moved by the National Parks Service in October. The future location of the dock is unknown at this time.

LAKE MOHAVE

Trout fishing this past weekend was good at Willow Beach following last Friday's rainbow trout plant with most anglers fishing from shore or boats catching trout. The trout were averaging 12 inches and were mostly taken with orange and green PowerBait. No stripers or catfish were recorded by Nevada Department of Wildlife creel census clerk over the weekend.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA

The area was busy over the past week as many anglers were successful at catching their limits of largemouth bass on Adams-McGill, Dacey, Cold Springs and Haymeadow reservoirs. Several fishermen scored on large rainbow trout at Haymeadow and Cold Springs Reservoirs. The fish averaged 17 inches. Water temperatures are hovering in the upper 70's. Daytime highs are in the upper 80's and nights in the mid 40's.

Daytime temperatures have been in the upper 80's while evenings have been dropping into the 50s.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

According to Ranger Pete Gill, trout in the lake have been the most active in the early morning and late evening hours and been feeding upon small crayfish and minnows. Anglers using white Powerbait have been the most successful. Night time temperatures have been in the low 40's with daytime highs reaching between 78 and 82 degrees.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

Trout fishing has picked up this week, with several anglers finding success using Powerbait and flavored marshmallows. Trout have been the most active in the early morning and evening hours and top-water lures and dry flies are also catching fish. Fewer crappie have been caught this week, but largemouth bass continue to be caught on spinning and top-water lures.

URBAN PONDS

Catfish were planted Aug. 16 and 17 in the ponds at Floyd Lamb State Park, Lorenzi Park and Sunset Park in Las Vegas, Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City and Hafen Park in Mesquite. The fish were larger than recent plants, with an average weight over one pound each.
