HORACE LANGFORD JR. / PVT
Kari Frilot, Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer, hands over a $3,500 check to Doug Farr, director of the Pahrump Valley High School band for instruments, uniforms and transportation costs, during a ceremony at the chamber office Wednesday. The chamber raised $3,500 during various fundraising events and went to the Pahrump tourism board to get another $3,500 to donate to the band. The chamber hopes the Trojan band could get an invitation to play at events like the Tournament of Roses Parade, which Frilot said would be a good tourist promotion for Pahrump. Pictured looking on from left are Erin Cason, saxophonist Dalton Cason, trumpeter Michelle Porter, and to the right, clarinetist Courtney Burns, to her rear Josh Cason, and, trumpeter Travis Cason.
