The Pahrump Valley High School cross country team needs more participants.

The Trojans, coached by Andy Anderson, have just eight runners -- two girls and six boys -- as they train for the 2006 fall campaign which begins Sept. 6 with a mid-week meet at Las Vegas Sierra Vista.

Boys and girls interested in running should contact Sherry Allison at the athletics director's office; call 727-7908 between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. weekdays.

Other numbers:

Football -- 105

Cheerleading -- 24

Drill Team -- 13

Girls Golf -- 9

Girls Soccer -- 53

Boys Soccer -- 38

Volleyball -- 44.

Which means 294 boys and girls have chosen to participate in fall sports programs at PVHS.

To be eligible to practice, athletes must have completed a physical examination and all of the pertinent paperwork that registers him or her. And in some sports, 10 practices must be completed before he or she can play in a regularly-scheduled game.
