NDOW Range Day on Sept. 9

SPECIAL TO THE PVT

Las Vegas area hunters and shooters should mark Sept. 9 on their calendars for Nevada Department of Wildlife Range Day.

The department and the Desert Sportsman's Rifle and Pistol Club started Range Day seven years ago to provide a place for hunters to safely and legally sight in their firearms for the upcoming hunting seasons.

Range officers and department hunter education instructors will be on hand to ensure safety and to provide personalized instruction. Range time and targets are provided free of charge.

The Desert Sportsman range is located at 12201 W. Charleston Blvd., and has reserved its 300-yard range for the day. Shooting starts at 8 a.m. and runs through 1 p.m., with the option of adding more time if demand warrants.

There will be a maximum of 20 shooters per hour with each shooter able to reserve at least one hour of range time.

Interested sportsmen should call the department southern region office at 1-702-486-5127 to reserve a time.
