WASHINGTON -- Five weeks have passed since the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers provoked Israel to launch its most unsatisfactory military operation in 58 years. What problem has been solved, or even ameliorated? Here's your midterm story line I was telling a friend the frightful but eventually good news. British law enforcement apparently had pre-empted a plot probably concocted by al-Qaida and intending to use liquid explosives on flights from London to the United States. Carry-on toothpaste might have to be sacrificed. What good has Isreal's action accomplished? Carry-on toothpaste might have to be sacrificed. 'Pahrump voters show up at the polls in their underwear' Whew, another primary has come and gone. Now all we have to do is make it through the general election and the circus can pack up and go home -- or at least to their respective offices. Finally -- peace and quiet at the office Arising at the same time each morning and heading out to an office used to be my daily routine.
