Heat kills pets

The Nye County Animal Shelter reminds the community that pets should never be left in cars as that puts their lives at great risk.

The temperature inside a parked car can reach 140 degrees in just a few minutes. Even leaving water for pets is not enough to keep them from overheating and having a stroke. Keep pets at home unless they have a vet or grooming appointment.

The shelter has seen one puppy death and three animals with heatstroke.

Animal Control is actively citing those who leave their pets in parked cars.
