Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo took 39 percent of the vote in a six-way primary race Tuesday. His main opponent, former Sheriff Wade A. Lieseke Jr., won 21 percent.

In the discussion breakout group exercise on July 13 with the county's consultant, Hogle-Ireland, the evening was not without its humorous moments. DeMeo says he will oversee jail project
Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo said he will still be the manager of the construction of the new Pahrump jail, despite the Nye County Commission's Aug. 1 appointment of his assistant sheriff and Interim County Manager Rick Marshall.

Animal concerns, Focus Group project on county agenda
The level of staffing for veterinarians at the Nye County Animal Shelter and a proposed bill amending provisions on licensing animals and impoundment will be discussed when Nye County Commissioners meet beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Pahrump Community Center.
